Der größte Verbraucher von Hartschaum ist die Bauindustrie, wo sie hauptsächlich für die Isolierung verwendet wird. Hartschaum wird auch in der gewerblichen Kühlung und Verpackung verwendet. Kleinere Anwendungen für Polyetherpolyole sind Elastomere, Klebstoffe und Dichtstoffe, Oberflächenbeschichtungen und Polyurethanfasern
